The Logo Process

Part 1: Sketching

Design Process 1: Sketching

When we receive project details, the sketching process begins, thumbnailing any and all ideas that come to mind in order to find the strongest concept.

Part 2: Refinement

Design Process 2: Refining

When sketching is complete, thumbnails are selected for expansion and refinement in order to present the client (you) with options to provide a stronger direction to the project.

Part 3: Digitizing

Design Process 3: Digital Work

Once the refinements are complete, your project moves to the initial digital stage. This is where shape, color, and text are further refined.

Part 4: Digital Review

Design Process 4: Digital Refining
Much like the sketch refining process, the digital refinement process will allow you to see the progress and determine any alterations you’d like to make.

Part 5: Final Touches

Part 5: The logo is finalized in black and white

After all of the notes have been taken into account, the final logo is put together by us and approved by you, preparing it for public use.

Part 6: Presentation

part 6: The finalized logo applied to a background

The final notes have come back, the changes have been made, and the logo is ready to go! The final logo will also include rules and examples of application, and acceptable variations.

FAQ

Q: How long does a project take?

A: We aim to ensure your project is done right. Good design takes time. While we try to maintain an efficient turnaround, we ask that you allow at least 5-10 business days for your project depending on the current slate of projects and our design team’s availability. You will be notified of any delays as soon as possible.

Q: How much does this cost?

A: Design service costs vary based on the scope, size, depth, and deadline of a given project. When our design team knows what is needed, we can provide an adequate estimate.

Q: What does “scope” mean?

A: The scope of a project determines what needs to be designed and how it needs to be applied. This is determined at the beginning of a project. If anything additional is requested beyond that point, it will be considered a new project.

Q: I already have a logo/background/legal text for this, how do I get this to you?

A: Once we go over the project, you will be given a link for your files. Make sure any necessary copy is in a text document so we can easily access it. If there are issues with grammar or punctuation, we will contact you to clarify.

Q: What does “Copy” mean?

A: In design and formatting, copy means text. What you are reading right now is copy. This includes slogans, taglines, written information, legal information, anything written that a designer needs to place on your project.

Q: Do you do web design?

A: No. We will be happy to create visuals for your website, but we are not web designers.
